What is the best place for a refrigerator?
 
The best place for a refrigerator is a dry, well ventilated room. Place your refrigerator in a cool place, away from direct sunlight, kitchen stove/oven, or heating appliances. Make sure that there is enough room for air to circulate behind and above your refrigerator/freezer. Try to keep the ventilation grille at the back side the refrigerator/freezer always clean.
 
 
How do I freeze products?
 
The temperature in the freezer compartment depends on the ambient temperature, the position of the thermostat, and the quantity of fresh food in the freezer. If food products are to be stored for a longer time, it is essential to freeze them at a temperature of -18° C or lower. When stored at such a temperature, the products do not lose their flavour, vitamins, appearance or colour. Good quality fresh food should be stored in portions. The package is very important: it must be airtight, damp- and odour-resistant. Polyethylene bags and aluminium foil best serve this purpose. The amount of food in the freezer should not exceed that specified in the manufacturer's instructions. Fresh food is best stored in the freezer separated into portions. The products freeze better that way and it is more convenient to use them. Each packet should be labelled clearly to show the name of the product and the date it was frozen. If a small quantity of food (1–2 kg) is being frozen, there is no need to adjust the thermostat. If the quantity is larger, then a lower temperature should be set beforehand (24 hours in advance), and once the products are placed in the freezer, the thermostat should be reset at the previous temperature.
 
  
How do I defrost the freezer?
 
It is essential to defrost the freezer compartment regularly at least 2–3 times per year and to clean it. The more ice forms in the freezer compartment, the more energy the appliance uses. When defrosting the freezer compartment, you must:
  • pull the plug out of the electrical outlet;
  • take the food products out of the freezer compartment, put them into container, cover them with a cloth, and store them in a cool place;
  • place the lower drawer in the freezer (to collect the thaw water);
  • leave the door of the freezer compartment open;
  • defrosting time will be shorter if you place a dish with hot water on a cloth in the freezer compartment.
When the frost and ice has melted, clean the refrigerator, wipe it dry and air it out. Do not use mechanical or electrical means to hasten the defrosting process.
 
 
How can I reduce a refrigerator's energy consumption?
 
Our refrigerators and freezers are economical, but energy consumption can be reduced even further if you follow some simple advice:
  • take care to leave enough room for ventilation behind the refrigerator, and do not store things on top of it;
  • do not wait too long to clean the accumulated ice away;
  • never put warm food into the refrigerator; it takes a lot of energy to chill it! For the same reason, try to avoid opening and closing the appliance's doors too often;
  • try to keep the ventilation grilles at the back of the refrigerator/freezer clean;
  • make sure that there is enough room for air to circulate behind and above your refrigerator/freezer;
  • place the refrigerator in a cool place: away from direct sunlight, the kitchen stove/oven, or heating appliances or fixtures;
  • try to maintain an optimal internal temperature in the refrigerator (0° C to 4° C) and freezer compartment (-18° C to -5° C); regularly defrost the refrigerator (when the layer of ice is 5–7 mm thick); the more ice forms in the freezer compartment, the more energy the appliance consumes;
  • fix refrigerator/freezer compartment doors that are not airtight: they let warm air enter;
  • thaw frozen food on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, not out of it.
 
 What should I do if there is water at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment?
 
Clean the thaw water drainage system inside the refrigerator compartment.
Make sure that there are no food products that are resting against the back wall of the refrigerator compartment and interrupting the flow of thaw water down into the drainage system.
Check that the drainage pipe is not blocked and that water can flow into the container above the compressor.
 
 
 What if the refrigerator is not refrigerating the food enough?
 
Set the thermostat to a higher position (lower temperature).
If fresh food products for quick freezing adjoin, space them apart so that cold air can circulate freely around them.
If too much fresh food has been placed in the refrigerator or if the products were placed in the refrigerator before cooling off enough, wait several hours and check the temperature again.
Ensure that the refrigerator door is closed properly. Do not leave the refrigerator door open for extended periods and do not open and close it more often than necessary.
 
 
What if refrigerator is too cold?
 
Set the thermostat to a lower position (higher temperature).
 
 
Why is the refrigerator's compressor working non-stop?
 
Determine whether the thermostat is set too high.
The compressor works non-stop if the quick-freeze option is set for the freezer compartment.
Make sure the refrigerator door is not open.
It might be that too much food or insufficiently cooled food has been placed in the refrigerator.
 
 
 Why is water trickling down the back wall of the refrigerator compartment?
 
This is normal. An auto defrost system is installed in the refrigerator compartment. While the compressor is paused, the back wall of the compartment defrosts and water trickles down into the container above the compressor, where it evaporates.
 
 
What if the refrigerator is not working at all?
 
Is the thermostat turned off?
Ensure that the appliance is properly plugged in and that voltage is present at the outlet.
 
 
Why is the refrigerator making more noise?
 
How much noise a refrigerator makes depends on how the appliance is positioned, how it is used and the age of appliance. To minimise noise and vibration, check the following things:
  • Make sure the refrigerator is level on the floor and that it is resting firmly on all four feet (castors);
  • The refrigerator may be touching another appliance or a cupboard next to it, and vibration may be causing the noise;
Ensure that the tubes of the freezer unit are not touching the body of the appliance, the wall, or each other.
